Is My Child Lazy or Does He Have a Learning Difficulty?

How easily we judge a student. When the end of the term comes, we take the report card in hand and immediately decide whether the child is hardworking or lazy. If the 1s are dominant on the report card, we place this child in the category of lazy, learning disabled, slow-witted, and someone who won't amount to anything in the future. If the 5s are dominant on the report card, we put the child in the class of intelligent, hardworking, sharp-witted, and someone who will achieve great things in the future. However, thousands of top-ranking students scoring zero in the university entrance exam each year refute this theory. A report card is a numerical representation of a student's performance over a year. In this long process, the student may not fully exhibit their performance. They might have trouble adjusting to school. They might not be accustomed to their teacher. They might be having trouble understanding the lessons this term. They might have problems with their friends. In this regard, there are many reasons for a student's failure. Success cannot be achieved unless all factors affecting success are in place healthily.

A child may sometimes be unsuccessful even if they are doing their best to succeed.

A generation raised in a system based on memorization develops a mentality of memorization. While those with strong memorization skills return home with a good report card, those who struggle with memorization return home with a report card full of failing grades. If your child does their homework on time, doesn't skip school, and studies regularly for exams, your child is hardworking. Hardworking is a phrase used to mean someone who studies their lessons. Unfortunately, those who score high on exams are called hardworking, and those who score low are labeled lazy. Sometimes, a person may not be successful despite working very hard. It is a sad picture when, instead of questioning why a failing child failed, we start questioning the child's intelligence. This shows how far we have strayed from these truths and realities.
