Yahoo Acquires Summly

In 2013, following Marissa Mayer's lead, Yahoo began tracking and acquiring new ventures in the social news sector. After the social recommendation system Jybe, this time it has incorporated Summly, a venture focused on news summarization.

Summly CEO is the Youngest Entrepreneur at 17

The young entrepreneur who founded Summly achieved this at the age of 17. Nick D’Aloisio, who has written his name into digital history as the youngest entrepreneur, is known as the youngest entrepreneur to receive investment from such a large firm. He founded and developed Summly at 15, and it was among the best apps of 2012 on the AppStore. Summly is built on a proprietary language recognition algorithm. It creates short, 400-word summaries from daily news using its language recognition system. While the application was published on the Appstore, it was removed from distribution after Yahoo's acquisition of the application.
