How Underfloor Heating Systems Work

Underfloor heating systems, also known as radiant floor heating, were developed to prevent heat loss in enclosed spaces and have been used since ancient times.

Underfloor Heating Installation

The system that provides underfloor heating works on the principle of converting energy into heat through water pipes or electric cables laid under the screed. The system transfers the energy from the energy source (combi boiler, electricity, boiler, solar panel...) to all points of the space through water pipes or electric cables laid under the floor. To implement the system, underfloor heating materials such as styrofoam, water pipes, electric cables, and connection accessories are needed. It is preferable for the application area to be in the construction phase for underfloor heating to be provided. Implementing such an application in existing occupied buildings, homes, or workplaces requires major renovations, which increases the cost of the application. Pipes laid on corrugated styrofoam, which is laid on the floor before the screed, are fixed to the floor with fixing apparatus. Thus, the system integrates with the floor. After the application is checked, screed is poured over it, and the floor covering is applied.
